Yoga

A Different Style of Yoga

Erin started practicing yoga in 2006, learning from the tradition of Swami Satyananda, founder of the Bihar School of Yoga. This traditional yoga centers on the whole person- mind, body and spirit, and teaches that yoga is for everybody and every body.
The practices include asana (postures), pranayama (breath work), mudra (hand positions), mantra (Sanskrit chants), and yoga nidra (yogic sleep). The hallmark of this tradition is the Yoga Nidra…. Really it’s why everyone comes to class! Swami Satyananda developed this practice of sense withdrawal to let go of the outside world and come into your own mind-body. It brings the body and brain to a place just between wake and sleep, to a place of full relaxation. 20 minutes of Yoga Nidra can be as refreshing as a 2 hour nap. Yoga nidra is different than meditation because it acknowledges the mind must first come into a place of relaxation before it can go deeper into the subconscious. This systematic approach of body relaxation is highly effective in creating inner stillness and can lead to spontaneous meditation.

Erin’s classes include gentle asana postures intended to bring about a balanced physical/mental state to comfortably embark on the journey inside ourselves. They are in the hatha yoga style, balancing the body’s solar and lunar aspects, as well as the chakras. The breathing (pranayama) practices are intended to bring balance and calm into the breath or energy body. Yoga nidra allows one to withdraw from the chaos of the outside world and drop into their mind and spirit, creating balance and peace throughout the whole body. With the incorporation of intention setting and visualizations, this practice can bring about real healing and transformation.

Erin is a certified Yoga Nidra Teacher through the Yoga Academy of North America and would love to share this yoga practice with you!

Client Testimonials

Here’s what people have to say about Erin’s yoga classes

“I like how yoga nidra gives me the opportunity to first drop into my body so it becomes more accessible to drop into my mind. Nidra is a great way to meditate and is accessible for anyone because it is guided…it is an excellent companion practice to all my endurance activities.”

Meredith

“Erin’s Yoga Nidra uniquely sets itself apart from other yoga practices. In other yoga practices I’ve tried, mind and body is emphasized, but I always felt a lack of connection with the mind aspect of those practices. Erin’s Yoga Nidra truly strikes that perfect balance of mind and body. I have been working through several injuries and there is the mental aspect. I’ve also always struggled with meditating before and I find that Yoga Nidra works for me to find a peaceful moment with my subconscious that I never feel connected with. I feel a great appreciation for my body, physically, and connection with my mind and appreciation for my recovery journey after the meditative Yoga Nidra aspect of the practices.”

Becky

“Yoga Nidra with Erin makes you tune in, allowing you to be aware of your conscious, energy and self. She slowly shuts off the noise and world around you with her soothing and calming voice while talking to you throughout the session. Going through the stages of yoga nidra she makes you feel peaceful. At the end of the session you walk away feeling balanced and whole, almost a cleaning of your energy, and getting rid of all the built up stress you walked in with. I find this type of yoga appealing after going through a stressful week at work.”

Meet Erin Lucero

Before creating Blade of Grass Healing Arts I was a practicing architect for 20 years. I was drawn to architecture to help people by improving the built environment. After the sudden loss of my mother to cancer, I knew that I had to re-align my outer world with my inner world. I had to come into balance and step onto a path of service and love. I heard a calling deep in my soul, and that calling brought me to help people through the healing arts of yoga and shamanism. I found yoga in 2006 as a way to find balance and even out the highs and lows in life. After a trip to India in 2014, where I stayed at the Satsang Ashram in Deoghar, I experienced a profound transformation that led to a journey of self-love and healing. I invite you to discover yoga’s profound benefits of relaxation and healing.
